Who is Dan Bickford?
Hopelessly civically involved.
After leaving the work force, I became an advocate for senior and mobile home park issues. I am a member of the Santee Mobile Homeowners Action Committee (SMOAC) and Golden State Manufactured-Home Owners League (GSMOL). I am the President of my community nonprofit HOA. I assist in a twice weekly SMOAC food pantry for my community. These remain my core support issues. However, in a very short time those issues expanded to a desire to represent my City of Santee and the East County of San Diego. I took out papers to run for City Council in 2018 but left the race to help a very capable opponent win the seat. I help the City by serving on the Santee Park and Recreation Committee (SPARC) and I participate in City Council meetings and assist with the Highway 52 Coalition. Did I say I completed the training and serve as a member of the East County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)? In my spare time I started two nonprofits and ran for and won a seat on the Central Committee of the Republican Party of San Diego County, where I serve as the Vice Chair of the 71st Caucus.
This year, celebrating 50 years of serving Santee's youth, I serve as the President of the Kiwanis Club of Santee, Ca. Even during a period of covid, we found time to provide no-touch thermometers to Santee School District to aid in the safe reopening of our classrooms, provided scholarships to graduating Santee seniors, and held a very successful Children’s Fishing Derby where local children and their families were able to get out and enjoy the fresh air at Santee Lakes while competing for fishing bragging rights.
